We've gone green! As if we weren't green enough around here, the BASF waterborne paints we use here at Lafayette Auto Body & RV Repair are making a HUGE difference!
What's the difference? It's simple, really. Harmful VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) are released from the chemicals in regular automotive paint. The waterborne paint system has a highly reduced level of these VOC's. This makes our paint safer for our technicians, our customers, and for the environment!
Like a breath of fresh air, these waterborne paints don't have the same odor as the chemical paints. Our shop doesn't have that "obviously a paint shop" smell. :)
Unlike many shops, we didn't wait until the waterborne paints were required. We had a smoother transition by deciding to make the transition early and allow our painters and technicians to get used to the new products.
Certain myths regarding these waterborne paints are causing for other body shops to shy away from the transition into the new technology. Expensive equipment? Not exactly! All shops are different. BASF will evaluate each shop's readiness, and put together a recommendation report. Complicated & difficult? Nope. Waterborne paints aren't complicated or difficult. What they are is different. Your BASF representative can help you make the transition as easy as possible; providing a few extra "tricks of the trade". For experienced painters, waterborne isn't an issue at all!
At the forefront of today's technology, we are here to BETTER serve you! Join us in "going green"!
